Kingsbury

This timber loft condo in River North, Chicago, features stunning western views of the skyline and river, the loft’s design focuses on maximizing both natural light and spatial flow. A key element of the project was the addition of a third bedroom, created by enclosing part of the oversized living area. This not only added value but also introduced architectural enhancements that seamlessly integrated with the loft’s original open plan. Furnishings were carefully curated to complement a modern and timeless atmosphere, and the finishes were chosen to heighten the loft’s clean and minimal aesthetic.

Working closely with a lighting designer, an intricate electrical plan was devised to bring out the best in the timber structure’s character while enhancing the overall ambience. The lighting strategy accentuates the scale of the rooms and highlights key architectural details. Throughout the design process, a sophisticated and understated color palette was employed, emphasizing a sense of timeless modernism.

The scope of work for Stephen Young Design also included meticulous construction management and installation, ensuring that the vision was flawlessly executed from architectural planning through to finishing touches.
